Grilled Cheese Chronicles/Trader Joe's Diaries

In my recent chronicle (of grilled cheeses), I made public a discussion between a friend and myself on the nature of these so-called grilled cheese sandwiches.  This friend noted the opulence of using caramelized onions in a grilled cheese sandwich, and we will not debate his profound wisdom at these proceedings.

Rather, I will say that another sumptuous addition to a grilled cheese is canned, fried onions (please keep in mind this does not mean that caramelized onions are not equally - if not more - delicious).

Fried onion pieces, those tasty little morsels, add a crunchy, savory element of pure deliciousness.  Applying the onions liberally to a grilled cheese made with Artisan Reserve Vermont Cheddar, procured from Trader Joe's, you'll find yourself in a truly delightful situation: a situation in which you are munching on pungent, sharp, gooey cheddar and crunchy, wholesome fried onions.  A fine situation, to be sure.

Carry on.
