Let's Get Together and Feel (Or Not Feel) Allright

I was listening to a John Lennon Song the other day, Instant Karma, and there is the following line: "Why on Earth are we here, surely not to live in pain and fear."

I was also thinking about something a philosopher once said: "I'm not sure why we are here, but I'm pretty sure it's not to enjoy ourselves."

Now, it must be said, neither of these statement necessarily promote the opposite. For example, if we're not here to live in pain and fear, that does not necessarily mean we're here to live in pleasure and calm (or whatever the opposites of pain and fear are). Likewise, if we're not here to enjoy ourselves, that doesn't mean we're here to have a horrible time.

All of this being said...

If we were here to live in pain and fear, we would probably wear pants like these
